Although Jim works for a partner of Contoso, he is able to view whether Mary is online, offline, or busy, and can send her instant messages.

Though Mary is expecting a call from a customer, she quickly shares the updates with Jim.

Mary knows she will be notified of an incoming call and can easily divert the call to her mobile phone.

This flexibility allows her to continue her conversation with Jim, without neglecting her customer.
